Carpeting - The carpeting will largely be made from recycled and environmentally friendly content, courtesy of Wisconsin-based Nonn’s Flooring.  A substantial portion of the flooring will be manufactured using corn sugar – a renewable resource.

Wood Flooring
- The home will feature bamboo flooring, which offers natural wood splendor, while being a renewable resource.  Because bamboo is actually a grass, not a tree, it can completely regrown in 5 to 7 years, and is truly renewable resource.


Floor Tile
- The tile in the bathrooms will be from Childcrest, and will be made from 40% recycled ceramic, created by Crossville, Inc.  This product has been scientifically tested for durability and content, to ensure an environmentally friendly and sustainable product.

Interior Stone - Stone is used throughout the interior portion of the house, as a decorative item.  Stone, like tile, releases few, if any, air emissions.  Additionally, because of the durability of stone products, long-term maintenance and replacement costs are minimal, compared to other interior materials.

Countertops
- The countertops used in the home will feature recycled material.  Vivendi™ Nuvo is made with all natural, local materials including stone, sand, and organic pigments. None of the raw materials used in Vivendi™ Nuvo contain polymers or petroleum products.  Many of the molds used to manufacture Vivendi™ Nuvo are reused, and recycled water is used in the manufacturing process of Vivendi™ Nuvo.  In addition, Vivendi™ Nuvo is made of concrete, which can be broken down and recycled.  Corian countertops, which are 100% reusable will also be used in the home.  These counterops utilize sealants are GREENGUARD certified which represents a low-emitting material.  In the Terra Collection, all countertops are made from recycled content.

Certified Wood
- LMI and Drexel utilize MasterBrand Cabinets, manufacturer of the Decora cabinets that will be used in the Wisconsin Trend Home™, which has been named a certified manufacturer in the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) Environmental Stewardship Program. The program recognizes manufacturers that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to environmental practices and sustainability. Only companies that employ the use of environmentally responsible materials in cabinet products and seek to minimize the environmental impact on their local communities by recycling wastes and using low emission coatings have received this certification. The cabinets are manufactured with rapidly renewable resources and the finest wood veneers and ultra low-VOC, water-based adhesives.  Rapidly renewable resources are used for the cabinet sides, floors, drawers and back.

Engineered Wood
-Engineered wood reduces the need for large, older growth wood; engineered I-joists, beams, and OSB sheathing are made by binding the composites of smaller pieces of wood together with strong resins.  Weyerhaeuser’s engineered wood resins due not contain urea-formaldehyde, a chemical that typically off-gasses and negatively impacts indoor air quality.

Lighting
- Signature Lighting, a Wisconsin company, will be providing light emitting diodes (LED) for all backlighting (including under-cabinet lights), helps to reduce the amount of energy needed to light the home.  All other lighting in the home will utilize Energy Star fixtures.  The home’s lighting schematic will be programmed for various purposes, as well as certain times of the day for when and where lighting in needed.  During the cooling season, lighting features reduce the amount of heat emitted to alleviate air conditioning demand.  During the heating season, the energy saved by using LEDs is more efficiently applied to producing heat via the HVAC system.

Interior Doors - The Masonite Emerald series represent the interior doors that will be used for the Wisconsin Trend Home™.  These doors are urea-formaldehyde free and are manufactured with DorCor, which is produced from rapidly renewable wheat straw/fiber.  Additionally, adhesives used in the door assembly contain very low levels of VOC, which helps to improve the indoor air quality.

High Performance Bath Ventilation Fans
- The Broan SmartSense Intelligent Ventilation System provides homeowners with an affordable, automatic ventilation solution that minimizes the presence of pollutants and maximizes energy savings.  Individual fans that once worked independently now work together to ensure fresh air throughout the day to create an integrated ventilation system in the home.  This fan system efficiently manages energy by continually monitoring and activating fans day and night, operating them when necessary throughout the home to distribute fresh air.  A Broan SmartSense control is connected to each fan. One control is designated as the master and communicates wirelessly with other controls.

- For drywall in the home, Mold Tough will be used, which is a new and improved sheetrock panel that features active mold inhibitors inside and out. The Mold Tough panel is be framed as conventional drywall: ½” at 16”o.c. and 5/8” at 24” wall and ceiling, with standard application for hanging and finishing, using standard tools.
