Efficient Manufacturing
- The selection of many products was influenced by the sustainable nature of their manufacturing processes.  In the case of the HVAC system, York Midwest, a subsidiary of Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls, is donating recycled ducting for the forced air system.  For the façade of the home, Wisconsin-based Halquist Stone is donating the stone materials, and has been mining in Waukesha County for more than 75 years.  In the case of the wall system for the home, Plymouth Foam manufactures structural insulated panels (SIPs) that are constructed by sandwiching a rigid foam slab between two pieces of oriented strand boards (OSB).  Onsite, all excess foam is recycled during the construction of the panels.  The waste from the rigid foam during the actual building constructions is utilized later in landfills as a way to aerate the soil and help other waste degrade in a rapid fashion.  All of the companies involved in the Wisconsin Trend Home™ project have consistently demonstrated a commitment to the environment.
